Spiritual Mentoring – Big Idea
Spiritual Mentoring is focused on a standard that you are working to achieve. The standard in Spiritual Mentoring is the person and example of Jesus Christ.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer.”
— Acts 2:42 NLT
“To the apostles’ teaching”: After commitment, which we highlighted last week, comes the focus of growth. Without the Bible that we enjoy today, they had the Apostles who were with Jesus for three years. Their teaching was contrary to the cultural norms, and other religious teachings, and certainly set the apostles and early Christians apart from their society. Does that sound familiar? They were outspoken in their day as all, but one was killed for their faith. How do you approach our culture today knowing the teachings of Jesus will set you at odds with most people around you? How can we “love the sinner but hate the sin”?
