Overcoming Barriers Men Face: Stress

by | Jul 27, 2022

Big Idea: Stress

Stress is a normal part of life that can be a healthy tension in a man’s life that will urge us to be at our best if we handle it healthily.   They say a rubber band is only at its best when it is being stretched.  Men want to be stretched, grow, make a difference, and be successful in that which they engage

Stress can push us out of balance if we are unaware of where we are on our journey.  Stress can be addictive if pushed too far and can also be debilitating if not handled healthily. There are many places where stress can originate:  job, finances, family, health, change, the unknown, and many more.

What are some healthy ways to cope with stress?

  • Create margin in your life so you have a buffer zone.  Do that specifically in the area(s) that is causing you the most unhealthy stress.
  • Exercise regularly – the body absorbs our mental stress and eventually will cause you to do many more unhealthy activities – eating too much, not restful sleep, disease, and the list goes on.
  • Cast all your cares on the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.  He is the one that can truly help you.   I Peter 5:7cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.
  • Reach out to a close friend or counselor to help you sort it out with someone not involved in the situation.

What is the primary stress of your life today?   How are you handling it healthily?  What should you do with any aspect you are not handling healthily?
