Big Idea: Fear
Fear is living in a fantasy future world. We fear what might or could happen. Worry (the result of fear) is a misuse of the imagination. Alan Loy McGinnis.
Fear: there are many sources of fear; fear of failure, fear of intimacy, fear of physical dangers, fear of death, fear of financial loss, fear of growing old, fear of change, fear of inadequacy, and many more.
What do we do as we face fear?
- Do not face it alone? Be open and transparent with a close friend about the fear you are facing.
- Recognize that this fear is not from God: 2 Timothy 2:17 for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. Knowing it is not of God can provide perspective as to the source of my fear.
- Pray God will give you the courage to act as He would have you in these situations, even if you are still facing the demon of fear.
The next time fear pops its ugly head, what will be the first step you will take?
