Big Idea: Discouragement
Discouragement is a common emotion men face from time to time. Men love to be fixers, yet there are some things we cannot fix. How do we handle the discouragement that may come with running into a brick wall from time to time?
Discouragement can come from a variety of sources: unmet expectations, fear, harsh treatment, tragedy, and the enemy, to name a few.
What do we do when it appears?
- Don’t isolate – when we are discouraged, we tend to isolate, yet that exacerbates the situation.
- Anchor in God and His Word – the Bible tells the truth about you as a child of God.
- Starve your discouragement – it is so easy to get fixated on the challenges we are facing and never move to solutions for any number of reasons.
Psalm 41:10 – do not be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
The next time your face discouragement, what will be your first step in getting in a position where you can overcome it?
