Making an Impact in 2024: Big Idea: Track Your Progress Rather Than Your Goals
Most of us like to track our goals this time of the year: Weight loss, quitting smoking, removing, or reducing sugar, exercise, and daily devotions with God, just to name a few. Many of us will get discouraged quickly when our expected results do not come quickly – it seems the effort may no longer be worth it. Most things of value are much closer to a marathon than a sprint, in the realization of the outcome. If we set process goals, rather than outcome goals, in the near term our focus and satisfaction will be tremendously higher, and the longer-term results will be more certain by this process. This is true in relationships, as well as concrete goals.
Today – Identify a reasonable process for longer-term goals and set short-term process goals that will help you move forward in the right direction with the emotional satisfaction to keep you on track
