Leadership Lessons: Big Idea: “I want to talk like I am right, and listen like I am wrong”, Dr. Tim Elmore
WOW – what a great statement. We need to act and speak with confidence then all those in our purview will be confident along with us. However, when we are entertaining feedback or discussing concepts in general, when others are speaking we should listen intently, and thoroughly to entertain their communication with us. Who knows, they may have a better idea, or it could be we are just flat out wrong. If we want the best outcome possible for the organization, the family, or the church, it should not be about us being right, it should be about the best ideas and concepts moving forward.
Today – carefully consider how you are responding to feedback and ideas that are discussed with you. Are you dismissing the conversation before you have thoroughly listened or are you carefully evaluating all the information coming your way? Nothing will encourage the best out of people than to fully listen and evaluate the ideas put forth in the communication.
