Leadership Principles: Big Idea: Always Host After-Action Reviews
After Action Reviews – are simply that. After some action, event, interaction, planning meeting, family meeting, or vacation, take the time to evaluate how it went. Did it meet the goals established in the way the interaction was planned? What went well? What needs to be improved? How did I do and what can I improve? For too many of us, the only plan was to get through whatever was planned rather than investing yourself in an impactful outcome for the short or long term.
Today: Take the initiative to implement an after-action process for something that happened in the marketplace, the neighborhood, at home, or at church. Maintain a humble, inquisitive approach that seeks out honest feedback to see how to improve whatever the interaction was. Then put in place ideas to make the positive improvements to the activity evaluated. You will be amazed at the improvements that can be made in all areas of your life.
