Leadership Lessons: Big Idea: If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way. Martin Luther King Jr.
There are times in our life when it seems like we can’t have the success for which we are striving. This could be for any number of a long list of reasons. At that point, it could be easy to become discouraged, frustrated, give up, or blame others. Instead of any of that, commit to what you do to excellence in the little steps along the way. That does not mean that the goal may still not be achieved, however, it will mean that what you do is outstanding. You will be proud of what you do, others will notice and begin to model their behavior after yours – the pursuit of excellence. My brother-in-law always said; be the job great or small – do it right or not at all.
Today – Rather than dismissing small things as immaterial and unimportant, commit to doing them well, as though it is a matter of great importance.
