The Lord makes it clear that following Him and producing fruit for Him will be a struggle, a challenge requiring perseverance or endurance. But in Christ, we are guaranteed success.

September 27, 2022 – The Fish Test
Competitive sports allow us to test our skills against a known opponent. Coaches spend hours strategizing on how to effectively match the challenges of a rival. After careful evaluation there is a certain level of predictability associated with a field or court that...
June 14, 2022 – Grow Old Like Caleb
Grow old like Caleb— with vision and faith for what God wants to do. Following Jesus and trusting God doesn’t guarantee long life and robust health. But it does guarantee a life worth living, a life of meaning and purpose, a life devoted to serving Christ and others.

March 1, 2022 – Troubling Times
The present economy has created great uncertainty for many. Believers re-defining their future often struggle, trying to understand God’s will for their lives. No matter how unstable our environment, though, we can rest in knowing God loves us and He is in control. We must remain faithful as we trust Him.

September 7, 2021 – Growing Old
Are you struggling with getting older? Someone once said, “As you get older you will understand more and more that it’s not about what you look like or what you own, it’s all about the person you’ve become.”

August 3, 2021 – Bad Water
One of my fishing partners had taken his motor home to a state bass fishing competition. In his haste to get some pre-fishing completed, he failed to check the water in his motor home. August 28, 2018 – Coping With Struggles
I can’t remember a time when so many friends were under such physical, mental, and/or spiritual attack. Maybe it’s a sign of my age. Maybe it’s the result of the chaos in the sin-filled world we live in. I don’t know. I do know that there are many people suffering and being challenged.

June 12, 2018 – A Fish Story
A person had a large aquarium that served as a home for an adult pike. The researcher noticed that every time he put minnows in the tank the pike would quickly gobble them up. As part of an experiment, the investigator decided to slip a plate of glass into the tank separating the pike from the area where he would introduce the baitfish. He then placed some minnows on the side away from the pike.
