We hunters often get a “bad rap” because of our hobby. Many naively believe that the hunter is to blame for the dwindling populations of many threatened species in our world. On the surface, this may sound logical, but the truth is that the sportsmen have done a great deal to preserve and enhance fish and wildlife resources.
There are times we have a tight grip on our things. For some their stuff is so precious they won’t trust even their closest friends with it. When we recall the story of Abraham and Isaac we stand amazed at the fact that Abraham would seriously consider taking the life of his only son, for whom he waited 100 years.
Elijah just had a tremendous victory with God on Mount Carmel. It was there that the prophet used the power of God to help put down the gods of Baal. Elijah took a stand against 450 prophets of Baal and King Ahab and organized a “prophet duel” of sorts.
Today, we are experiencing more devastation and fear than I ever remember. Historic hurricanes ransack our coastal cities. Many earthquakes and tornados are reaching inland to destroy and damage hundreds of communities and lives.
If ever there was a time when unity is needed in our faith, country, sports arenas, and families it is now! So many people I meet are discouraged and depressed about life in part because of the lack of unity. Democrats hate Republicans, Republicans detest the media, conservatives are in dispute with the liberals…
