Do You Feel Part of a Divine Plan?

“But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.” Psalm 33:11

During the course of my investigation for my third book, I came across the beautiful wildlife photography of Dave Tripicano. His story intrigued me. A former high school band director in New York State, Dave is also recognized as a State Bowhunting Instructor. Although a Christian for many years, it was not until the loss of his wife in a tragic automobile accident, in 1991, that he truly began to devote his life to the Lord’s work.

In the seemingly senseless loss of his loved one, God made it possible for him to pursue his life-long dream of deer and wildlife photography. Dave claims Romans 8:28 as a verse to encourage his efforts: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Dave’s loss was woven into his passion, presenting God’s beauty, awesome creativity, and wonder to the world. His Christian hunting and wildlife art videos are being used in churches all around the country. The more time he spends in the woods, the more he is totally in awe of the marvelous works of God. The splendor and intricate design of the forest confirms to Dave that he is part of a divine plan. What a comfort to a man with such great loss.

We all need that comfort, don’t we? There are many “seasons” in life. When things go wrong, life hurts, and all seems lost, we need to remember that God is still in control. He has a plan for us: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jer. 29:11.

God is creating a masterpiece, and we’re part of it. When we truly believe that, we can actually be thankful in midst of our sorrow and pain. When we know there is “more to come”, we can approach our pain with curiosity and expectation. As Psalm 84:12 declares, “O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.” …especially in times of trouble!

When the circumstances of life weigh heavily on our souls, when we face tragedy and failure, let’s remember the awesome wonder of God. Let’s look around at the works of His hands and remember how truly big He is. He’s got a plan; He’s working it all for good. We are part of a masterpiece!

The Power of Truth:
“’For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” Isa. 55:8-9

“No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thess. 5:18 (NLT)

“The LORD Almighty has sworn, ‘Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.’” Isa. 14:24

Suggestion for Prayer:
If you are in a rough season, give the Lord your burdens. Ask Him to reveal His plan for you. Thank Him for including you in His great masterpiece…even in this time of trouble.
