What Page Do You Turn to in Times of Trouble?

“But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.” Psalm 55:16

Nowadays most of us have speed dial on our phones whether they’re “land-lines” or cell phones. It’s a wonderful convenience. Similarly, I wish I had speed dial for scriptures. You know, press 1 for “fear”, 2 for “worry”, 3 for “loneliness”, etc. Of course memorizing scripture is the best solution. Still, I find it handy to keep a list of favorite verses in the back of my Bible as a personal reference. I received the following in an email and find it pretty handy:

In sorrow – John 14
People fail you – Psalm 27
You want to be fruitful – John 15
You have sinned – Psalm 51
You worry Matthew – 6:19-34
You are in danger – Psalm 91
God seems far away – Psalm 139
Your faith needs stirring – Hebrews 11
You are lonely and fearful – Psalm 23
You grow bitter and critical – 1 Corinthians 13
You feel down and out – Romans 8:31
You want peace and rest – Matthew 11:25-30
The world seems bigger than God – Psalm 90
You want Christian assurance – Romans 8:1-30
You leave home for labor or travel – Psalm 121
Your prayers grow narrow or selfish – Psalm 67
You want courage for a task – Joshua 1
You think of investments and returns – Mark 10
You are depressed – Psalm 27
Your pocketbook is empty – Psalm 37
You are losing confidence in people – 1 Corinthians 13
People seem unkind – John 15
Discouraged about your work – Psalm 126
Dealing with fear Psalm – 34:7
Looking for security – Psalm 121:3
Looking for assurance – Mark 8:35
Looking for reassurance – Psalm 145:18
You find the world growing small
and yourself great – Psalm 19

Whatever we’re facing in life, let’s look to God’s Word for truth and comfort. When we spend time in His Word, we gain wisdom, comfort, and joy. We come to know Him!

The Power of Truth:
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

“Your words are what sustain me. They bring me great joy and are my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.” Jer. 15:16

Suggestion for Prayer:
Read one of the above references. Consider how it applies to your life and circumstances and what it teaches you about God. Ask God to reveal His truth to you in this area.
