What message does your life send to those around you? What story does your life tell about who you are and what you value? While everyone’s “life message” is different based on their experiences, values, and choices, everyone’s life is saying something. It can have a great or small impact. It can be intentional or not. It can be positive or negative. As Christians, we must carefully examine whether our actions and lifestyle reflect the good news of the gospel.
Our greatest challenge in life is to know God and make Him known. The Apostle Paul reminds us that we are the message (Acts 22:15). We are to “be” the witness. Our character and actions do matter. Our mission for eternity is to glorify and worship Him in our daily living.
When most people think of worship, they immediately think of hymns and worship music—the time during church when we all sing. But in the Bible, worship is so much more than singing. Biblical worship is honoring and giving reverence to God in our actions: celebrating and praising God, obeying His commands, serving others instead of ourselves, expressing our gratitude to God, and submitting our own ambitions and lives to His leading. Worshipping the Lord brings us into fellowship with others and intimacy with God.
In the daily study Bible The Gospel of John (Vol. 1) [1975], the great biblical scholar William Barclay wrote:
True and genuine worship is when man, through his spirit attains to friendship and intimacy with God. True and genuine worship is not to come to a certain place; it is not to go through a certain ritual or liturgy; it is not even to bring certain gifts. True worship is when the spirit, the immortal and invisible part of man, speaks to and meets with God, who is immortal and invisible.
Worship is evidenced by actions. It is how we grow in our faith, mature in our walk, and become the message of Jesus Christ. Jesus told the disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” and “By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another” (Mark 16:15, John 13:35).
Our life becomes a message of the gospel when our daily actions, decisions, and interactions with others reflect the love, forgiveness, and grace that Jesus Christ offers, essentially “living out” the teachings of the gospel through our behavior, demonstrating the transformative power of faith in our lives. It’s not just about personal belief; it’s actively sharing that belief through our conduct in the world. We cannot “be” the message without a relationship with the Message, Jesus Christ.
Scripture Reading: Acts 1:8, Romans 12:1
Personal Application: The Holy Spirit can give you the power, guidance, and ability to be a witness to the world through your words and deeds. You can be a message of hope, redemption, and salvation. But first you must surrender your own ambitions and choose to live a life of worship. Honestly examine what message your life reflects. What message did your life send to those around you today?

We cherish any verse in Scripture that reminds us to keep focused and intentional about evangelism and discipleship. “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5
